Man Power Services

The Security Industry Authority is the organisation responsible for regulating the private security industry. We are an independent body reporting to the Home Secretary, under the terms of the Private Security Industry Act 2001. Their mission is to regulate the private security industry effectively; to reduce criminality, raise standards and recognise quality service. Our remit covers Great Britain.

Their Approved Contractor Scheme introduced a set of operational and performance standards for suppliers of private security services. The organisations that meet the standards are awarded Approved Contractor status. The accreditation provides purchasers of private security services with independent proof of a contractor's commitment to quality.

The scheme is voluntary and was developed in consultation with representatives from across the industry; it only covers those parts of the industry that are regulated by the SIA and the Private Security Industry Act. There is a single scheme, with sector-specific approval based on a relevant set of qualifying criteria.
